About this tool

A quick typing speed test with random common English words. The timer starts on your first key. WPM counts correctly typed words using the standard 5 characters per word (spaces included); raw WPM counts everything you typed; accuracy is correct keystrokes divided by all keystrokes. Your best score per duration is kept in this browser. Works with phone and tablet keyboards too.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is WPM calculated?

Characters in correctly typed words, plus one space each, divided by 5, divided by minutes elapsed.

What is a good typing speed?

Around 40 WPM is common for regular typists; 60–80 WPM is fast. Accuracy matters as much as speed.

Is my score saved online?

No. Best scores stay in this browser’s localStorage.

Is Typing test completely free to use?

Yes. Typing test on Omnipus is free to use with no subscription paywall for the tool itself.

Are my files or data uploaded to any servers?

No. Typing test processes your input locally in this browser tab. Your files and text are not sent to Omnipus. Some tools download an engine or model file the first time you use them; that is a download, not an upload.

Can I use Typing test on my mobile phone?

Yes. Omnipus has touch-friendly controls and can be installed as an app. On Android you can also share files or links into tools from other apps.
