About Compress image to 100 KB
100 KB is a frequent cap for profile pictures, ID scans, and form uploads. Phone photos need to be scaled down, but faces and text stay clear.
The compressor above is already in Target file size mode at 100 KB. It binary-searches JPEG/WebP quality to land just under the limit and, if even low quality is too big, scales the image down step by step. It aims under 100,000 bytes so it passes forms that count 1 KB as either 1,000 or 1,024 bytes.
If the target cannot be reached (for example with PNG, which has no quality setting), the tool says so and shows the smallest result instead of pretending.
Rule of thumb: photo dimensions that usually fit in 100 KB
| JPEG quality | ≈ Pixels | ≈ Size at 4:3 |
|---|---|---|
| High (≈90%) | 0.29 MP | 620 × 460 px |
| Medium (≈75%) | 0.56 MP | 860 × 650 px |
| Low (≈50%) | 1.0 MP | 1150 × 870 px |
Estimates for a typical photo. Detailed scenes (foliage, noise) need fewer pixels; flat graphics and documents fit more. The tool measures real file sizes, so trust its result over this table.
How to do it
- 1
Drop one or more images (JPG, PNG, or WebP).
- 2
Keep Target file size at 100 KB, or type a different limit. JPG reaches small targets most easily.
- 3
Check the preview and the result line, then download (several files come as a ZIP).
