About M4A to WAV
Voice memos and iTunes files are M4A. WAV is what many editors, samplers, and transcription tools expect.
AAC audio is decoded to 16-bit PCM WAV. The WAV will be much larger but adds no further quality loss.
The FFmpeg engine (about 31 MB) downloads the first time you convert and is then cached by your browser. Files up to about 100 MB are supported because everything runs in browser memory.
