About OGG to MP3
OGG Vorbis files from games, Android, or open-source apps are not supported by every player. MP3 is universal.
Vorbis is decoded and re-encoded as MP3. Both are lossy, so use a generous bitrate (192 kbps or higher).
The FFmpeg engine (about 31 MB) downloads the first time you convert and is then cached by your browser. Files up to about 100 MB are supported because everything runs in browser memory.
OGG vs MP3
| OGG | MP3 | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Ogg container (Vorbis here) | Lossy audio |
| Typical codecs | Vorbis | MPEG-1 Layer III |
| Common use | Games, open-source apps, Android | Universal music and podcast format |
How to do it
- 1
Drop a OGG file into the converter above (already set to MP3).
- 2
Pick a bitrate if you want something other than 192 kbps.
- 3
Tap Convert, keep the tab open until it finishes, then download the MP3.
